This slideshow documents the construction of the latest Caring Place facility, which will be located in the new Warrendale Village development in Marshall Township, along Interstate 79 between Route 19 and Warrendale Bayne Road.
Ground was broken for this Warrendale-area location in February 2008. Its design is modeled on the other Caring Place locations in downtown Pittsburgh, Erie and outside Harrisburg in central Pennsylvania.
For families in the northern Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Lawrence and Mercer counties — who have had to travel some distance, to downtown Pittsburgh, to access Caring Place services — the Warrendale Caring Place will be a welcome, convenient option.
The new location positions Caring Place to meet the needs of families in some of the region's fastest-growing communities. Since its opening in 1997, for example, the original downtown Pittsburgh facility has served more than 4,500 grieving children and adults in its peer support groups, along with several thousand more through its referral, education and consultation services.
